The second International
Conference on Design Science Research builds on the
interest spurred by the first DESRIST conference held successfully
at Claremont in 2006. We strongly believe that design
science is a key research paradigm in mainstream information
systems research. Like the Claremont conference, this
second conference will bring together a community of
academics, researchers and practitioners that are involved
in every aspect of Design Science. The importance of
design was first brought to light by Herbert Simon’s
famous “Sciences of the Artificial” book.
Since then, a whole body of research whose goal is to
design and invent methods, processes and systems has
emerged. The creation of IT artifacts and their evaluation
is central to this paradigm. This conference will explore
both the design methodology aspects as well as research
conducted using design science.
The objective of the conference is to bring together
researchers from diverse backgrounds ranging from computer
science, information systems, and software engineering
to social ethnography and artistic disciplines to create
a forum for discussing novel solutions to emerging problems.
We encourage contributions in all areas of design science.
We are seeking design theory papers, design research
methodology papers and topics papers with special emphasis
on the science of design. We encourage contributions
(papers, panels, teaching ideas) in all areas of design
science, and especially excellent examples of design
science applications. Areas of interest include, but
are not limited to:
- Science of Design and Design Theory
- Design of Software-Intensive Systems
- Evaluation of Design Science Research
- Design Processes
- Representation of Design Problems
- Exemplars of design research in the areas of:
Software Design
Database Design
Business Process Design
Knowledge Discovery and Data
Mining
Medical, Health and Bio-Informatics
Emerging Designs for Social
and Virtual Collaboration
Networking and Multimedia Systems
Grid Computing and Peer-to-Peer
Computing
